In practice that means first article approval for each component family, in-process inspection at the process steps that can produce a hidden defect, AQL release sampling per batch, and a fixed coating measurement count. More inspection than that adds cost without adding confidence, and less shifts discovery to site, where the cost per defect is far higher.

</details>
<details>

What is the difference between first-article inspection and batch sampling?

First-article inspection validates the process: if the first part produced on the line meets the drawing, the tooling, jigs and setup are capable. Batch sampling validates ongoing output by confirming the process has not drifted. Both are needed because they catch different failures, and a programme that skips first-article approval is effectively debugging tooling at volume.

</details>
<details>

How do we verify that traceability actually works?

Test it. Pick a structure on site at random, give the supplier its identifier, and ask for the complete production record: heat number, coating batch and thickness readings, pre-assembly inspection sign-off and inspector name. If producing that record takes more than a working day, the traceability system exists on paper only.

</details>
<details>

Can our own inspector attend production?

Yes, at agreed witness points, and on a mega-project we would encourage it. Typical witness points are first article approval, coating measurement, pre-assembly inspection and pre-shipment container review. We share the inspection plan and schedule so that your inspector or a nominated third party can plan attendance around actual production dates.

</details>
<details>

What happens if a batch fails release?

The batch is contained rather than released under concession, and the containment action is defined by the sampling plan rather than negotiated case by case. In practice we quarantine the batch, extend inspection to the surrounding production window to establish whether the cause is isolated or systematic, and correct the process before resuming. The owner is notified with the root cause and the corrective action.

</details>

Guides et pages d'application
